Courage Opened the Door — Destiny Walked In

Little did I know what was waiting for me when I boarded that solo flight to the Dominican. I thought I was escaping for a break—but I walked straight into something far greater. Life has a quiet way of rewarding those who dare to step into the unknown. ✈️🌊

Take the chance. Sometimes you only get one—and it can change everything. ✨

And now, I’m learning French. Slowly. Imperfectly. But willingly. 😊 It took me a month just to say her name with the right French spin… though, to be fair, most people need time to say mine properly too. 😄 In fact, I’m starting to really like the way she says my name in her French accent.

I took the chance—and I never looked back. 💛

Some risks change your plans.
The right ones change you. ✨

The Week That Followed Us Home

I don’t know if it was her genuine, welcoming nature, her gentle smile, her soft French accent, or maybe her quiet, studious ambition that pulled me in. There was something steady about her — kind, driven, real. I had already taken one risk, leaving cold Canada at Christmas for Dominican waves — stepping away from family traditions, knowing not everyone would understand. Meeting her made that decision feel like it was written long before I ever boarded that plane.

And then she spoke.

That French accent — warm, delicate, almost musical — wrapped around every word and pulled me closer. I wasn’t even sure I could hold the conversation, but I didn’t want it to end. There was a softness in her presence, but also strength. The kind that makes you feel safe and alive at the same time.

It wasn’t loud. It wasn’t dramatic. It was something deeper — a quiet spark that felt like recognition. Like two paths crossing exactly when they were meant to. In a place I thought was just an escape, I found connection. Real connection. The kind that stays with you long after the waves fade.

I thought I was chasing sun over snow. Instead, I found her — and somehow, everything felt warmer.
